JESS EWART-MCTIGUE PROFESSIONAL TRIATHLETE

NAME:
Jess Ewart-McTigue

AGE:
22

LOCTAION:
Brisbane, Australia

STARTED TRIATHLON:
2009 (Doing kids races along the foreshore in Melbourne!)

TURNED PRO:
2020

COACH:
Warwick Dalziel

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: In 2021 I was 4th Elite Female at Noosa Triathlon, which was a result I was stoked with but also a pretty surreal race for me having raced there in the age group category a handful of times prior and then getting the chance to mix it with the big girls! I got my first elite podium in Busselton in April this year at the Oceania Supersprint cup there. I finished up 2nd in a big sprint finish across the last 400m or so of the run after 3 rounds of short, sharp technical racing. I’m currently racing the European summer season, soaking up some awesome racing experience at World Triathlon races and grabbing a few podiums at some Spanish races. The international racing opportunities are invaluable chances for some aggressive fast racing and career development into the future.

A BIT MORE ABOUT JESS:
I grew up down in Melbourne, Victoria spending heaps of time driving up and down the Great Ocean Road for lifesaving and triathlon. I decided to go all in on triathlon in 2020 and moved up north for a warmer training environment in Queensland. When I’m not swimming, riding or running around Brissy, I don’t mind ducking down the coast to get a surf in or a day at the beach. I also can be found hanging round the cafe for a bit longer than may be reasonable after training. I’m also coming to the pointy end of my degree in Environmental Science at University so I have a big passion for sustainable solutions in sport, especially around nutrition.
