We are excited to announce our online coach here at Carbon Mafia. Jacob Riley (aka Jake) has been heavily involved behind the scenes for a couple of months now so we thought it was time to let you know who our coach is, here’s a quick bio.
NAME: Jacob Riley
AGE: 33
TOWN: Traralgon, Victoria, Australia
A BIT ABOUT ME: Spent my younger days playing football (AFL) locally and moved on to riding dirt bikes. I started running to lose weight and seen a friend do a triathlon with a local club and thought it looked exciting so I bought a road bike. I then went to a local splash and dash event (swim/run).
I met a few people and was pointed in the right direction and signed up to my first Sprint distance triathlon in 2014 at Hazelwood poundage. From there i did another Sprint and an Olympic Distance. In 2015 I took the plunge into completing a 70.3 and signing up to
Busselton Ironman. I set my goal for Busselton got a coach and off I went going under 9:30 in my first attempt. Since then I've raced numerous races from local sprints to the World Championships in 70.3 and qualifing for the Hawian Ironman in 2018.
MY COACHING: Starting in 2016 I had done the course with Triathlon Australia for my own improvement and then was approached by a few people in the local club that wanted some help and pointing in the right direction and took them on board. Since then I’ve had a Husband and Wife both race
the 70.3 World Championships in 2017. I believe as many others do that consistancy is the key and to get your best result is feeling comfortable in each leg of the race whether it's personal goals or going for the win.
We are looking to offer 2 levels of coaching to you starting with a beginners 12 week program which is designed for complete novices to prepare for an Enticer or Sprint Triathlon.
Our second option is for those of you wanting a personalised training plan that is tailored to your specific goals. This option allows our coach to work with you through the Training Peaks platform to achieve those big goals.
